Lake View Road in West Mambalam

"Lake View Road in West Mambalam, Chennai, was named after the Long Tank, a large water body that once existed in the area.

This lake was a significant feature of the region until it was acquired by the Corporation of Madras in the early 20th century, with 70 acres being filled in by 1924 to make way for the development of T Nagar.

The remaining portion of the Long Tank became known as the Mambalam Tank, which continued to serve as a water body until it was eventually filled in during the 1960s, primarily with garbage.

The road's name persists as a historical remnant of this now-vanished lake"
